The short State Route 723 commences at Interstate 70's Exit 176, a trumpet interchange in Guernsey County's Cambridge Township. Heading north from Interstate 70 as a four-lane highway, State Route 723 passes over the CSX railway and crosses the city limits of Cambridge. A short period later, State Route 723 comes to an end as it meets the U.S. Route 22/U.S. Route 40 duplex at a signalized T-intersection.[2]
State Route 723 is not considered a part of the National Highway System, a network of highways throughout the country that are deemed vital for the nation's economy, defense and mobility.[3]
